This is a silly little recipe I used to make after school when I was about 12—the same year Practical Magic was in theaters.
Growing up in a difficult family situation, I often found comfort in online forums for witches or spent hours in the backyard making “potions” with sticks, pretending I could control the wind.
I discovered this recipe on one of those forums, where it was said to grant the drinker the ability to communicate with fairies. I still make it today whenever I need a little magic and comfort in my life.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of milk (grass-fed cow, almond, or hazelnut preferred)
- 2 tablespoons local honey
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp lavender bitters
- Pinch of charcoal (optional)
Preparation:
- Warm the milk on the stovetop over medium heat.
- Add the honey, cinnamon, and lavender bitters, stirring to combine.
- Once the milk is gently warmed (not boiling), remove from the stove and pour into your favorite cup.
- If you have it, add a pinch of charcoal on top, to protect the drinker from negative energy.
- Sip and reflect on life’s little mysteries.
